Slovenia and Croatia – sand flies collection done by the team of University of Primorska

The University of Primorska conducts entomological research at two locations in Slovenia and two locations in Croatia. Every year, in both countries, phlebotomines are also collected in other locations, as foreseen by the CLIMOS project goals.

Data Summary for 2024 in Slovenia

  • Sampling sites: Velike Zablje, Cetore
  • Total Specimens Identified: 1,437 specimens analysed.
  • Richness: 5 distinct species/taxa across 3 subgenera.
  • Dominant Taxon: neglectus is the dominant taxon, accounting for around 87% of all specimens identified.

  • Total Specimens Identified: 160 specimens analysed.
  • Richness: 3 distinct species/taxa across 2 subgenera.
  • Dominant Taxon: perniciosus is the dominant taxon, accounting for around 98% of all specimens identified.
